Scintillation is the process by which high-energy excitation is converted into visible light photons. By integrating ideas from photonics with novel materials properties, we have achieved exciting results in high-energy detection, surpassing the capabilities of standard scintillators. Our ongoing collaborations with industrial partners aim to test and implement photonically structured materials, such as halide perovskite nanocrystals, in various applications, with medical imaging being a particularly promising avenue.
